Pomegranate juice improves arthritis.

Six patients consumed pomegranate juice, which reduced the composite Disease Activity Index (DAS28) by 17%, which could be related mostly to a significant reduction in the tender joint count (by 62%). These results were also associated with a significant reduction in serum oxidative status. The addition of pomegranate juice to serum from rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients reduced free radical-induced lipid peroxidation by up to 25%.

Researchers concluded that the pomegranate consumption may be a useful complementary strategy to reduce clinical symptoms in RA patients.
